The plan

Crews of three or four. About 90 minutes. Every round fits in one sentence, so you spend your time playing.

Round 1: Crack the Vault

Write one code that satisfies all 10 security rules.

15 minutes, paper and pen, no phones. Judges check every code against a printed checklist. Nobody is knocked out. The first 10 valid crews start Round 2 with 12,000 gold bars, other valid crews with 10,000, and crews that did not crack it with 8,000.

25 minutes. Every crew moves on.

Round 2: Grab the Loot

Bid your gold bars on mystery vaults.

Your starting gold comes from Round 1. Twelve vaults, one topic hint each. All crews write a bid on a slip at the same time. Highest bid wins the vault, then it opens. You can bid at most 40% of your gold on one vault.

Vault Qty What happens
Safe 6 Pay your bid, answer in 30 seconds. Right: win 2x your bid (+1x profit). Wrong: lose the bid.
Trap 2 Police raid. You lose your bid plus 25% of your gold.
Inside Man 2 Pay your bid, then steal 20% of a rival crew's gold.
Jackpot 2 Pay your bid, get 2.5x your bid back (+1.5x profit).

35 minutes. The 3 richest crews go to Round 3.

Round 3: Spot the Rat

Three crews pitch an answer. Only one is real.

Each crew gets a different slip: one real answer, two convincing fakes. Sell it in 30 seconds, then the room votes. Every vote for a crew earns it points: 100 per vote for a rat, 200 per vote for the real crew. All other crews vote in secret on paper slips, never for their own crew. Judges settle ties.

25 minutes. Top 3 crews. Highest final score wins the Heist Cup.

The Professor's rules

Phones stay away in Rounds 1 and 2. Final score = gold bars divided by 100, plus Round 3 points. The judges and the host have the final word. Spare questions are ready for ties.

Open a vault

A taste of Round 2. Tap a vault to see what is inside. On the day the vaults stay shut until someone wins the bid.
